In the message, write “EPFOHO [UAN] [Language Code]”, replacing [UAN] with his/her personal UAN number and [Language Code] with the first three letters of the preferred language (English, Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Punjabi, Tamil, or Telugu).
2. UMANG App: Employees can use the UMANG app to stay updated on their EPF balance. The app is available on both Android and iOS devices and can be accessed through the user’s registered mobile number or UAN. When a user logs in, they will be able to access their EPF balance.
3. UAN Portal: Via the EPFO website, an EPF passbook can be printed by selecting ‘Our services’, and then ‘For employees.’ After ‘Services’ is chosen, a tab for ‘Member passbook’ must be clicked. To view the passbook, the UAN and password must be entered. It should be noted that the UAN is issued by EPFO, but it must be verified and activated by the employer for the services to be used.
4. Missed Call Service: This is the simplest way to stay updated on EPF balance. Employees can give a missed call to the EPFO (011-22901406) and after a few moments, they’ll receive an SMS with all the pertinent details.

How to Generate UAN?

The Employee Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) issues a unique Universal Account Number (UAN) to each employee upon initial registration to the EPF Scheme by their employer.

Employers can easily obtain the UAN by registering their establishment through the Shram Suvidha Portal and accessing the EPFO employer portal. To register an employee for a UAN, the employer should follow these steps:

1. Go to the EPFO homepage,
2. Sign in to the Establishment using the establishment ID and password,
3. Click on the “Register Individual” tab in the “Member” section,
4. Enter the employee’s details like PAN, Aadhaar, bank details, etc.,
5. Verify and approve all the details in the “Approval” section.,

How to Perform UAN Activation Online?

To activate UAN online follow the below steps:

1. Visit the UAN member portal, and click on the “Activate UAN” option.
2. Enter details such as UAN, member ID, Aadhaar number, PAN, name, date of birth, mobile number, and email ID.
3. Click “Get Authorization Pin”. Enter the OTP sent to the registered mobile number and email ID, then click “Submit”.
4. Create a password for the UAN account after verifying the OTP. The password should have a mix of letters, numbers, and special characters.
5. Click on “Submit” after creating the password.

The UAN will be activated, and a confirmation message will appear on the screen.
