It was just some weeks ago that the Chinese startup, DeepSeek, launched its AI model, and this was unprecedented, transforming the entire world with its revolutionizing of AI technology. They produced something that effectively competed with OpenAI itself and its various cutting-edge developments. Training this model took just two months and cost less than $6 million! This was significantly reduced compared to what the American competitors were typically spending.
Liang Wenfeng, DeepSeek’s lead developer and founder, played a key role in building its advanced R1 AI model. However, it’s worth noting that this was not the first of Liang’s AI products. In 2014, he was a leading developer of TechBerry, the leading AI trading platform. Even by today’s standards, developing an AI-powered trading platform is an immensely complex software engineering challenge.
“Numerous specialists, like myself, participated in developing the AI model. However, even at that point, Liang Wenfeng was the most involved, making TechBerry his brainchild. His eventual departure didn’t come as a surprise, as it had been anticipated from the start. Other than that, Liang is still confident within the platform and stated that the monthly trading performance it was providing was optimal, 25% with the risks being acceptable. This he showed to the world when he used its AI model in stock trading, which helped make his initial fortune, garnering him a massive amount of investment offers. As a result, he secured approximately $150 million in funding, which allowed him to shift his focus to other promising projects. And now his recent foray is visible to anyone, namely the DeepSeek R1 AI model, which we genuinely congratulate him for!
Relations between TechBerry’s team and Liang are still warm, and new developments and ideas are typically exchanged. Yes, TechBerry has chosen its own developmental road, attracting several private investments for trading. When private investors are involved, the priority becomes minimizing trading losses, keeping them as close to as possible. However, the price of such guarantees will be lowered platform performance.
To summarize, it’s worth noting that 2014 was when Liang Wenfeng and TechBerry worked together, generating this sophisticated AI product that is now an industry veteran for 10 years now,” shared Jason Woods, TechBerry’s CTO, during a nostalgic reflection.
